Comox’s annual Boxing Day Polar Bear Swim to be virtual in 2021

The Town of Comox and the Comox Community Centre have made the decision to take the 45th annual Polar Bear Swim virtual for 2021. The decision to cancel the organized, in-person event was difficult, but with community safety being most important, it was best to relaunch it as an individual and family event.

Are you still brrrr-ave enough to take the plunge this winter? It could win you some prizes and bragging rights.

Between Dec. 26 and Jan. 1, post a photo of your own Polar Bear Swim on the Comox Community Centre Facebook page, tag us on Instagram at @comoxcommunitycentre, or email a photo to info@comox.ca, and you’ll be entered to win. Top prize is a one-month pass to the Fitness Studio, along with other fun giveaways.

“The 45th annual Polar Bear Swim is a little different than usual this year,” says Comox recreation programmer Heather Bailey. “But you can still brave the chilly waters around Comox, or wherever you are, with a post-Christmas dip and share it with the world!”

Winners will be drawn at random on Jan. 6, 2022.
