The COBS Bread location in the Driftwood Mall is celebrating two years of operating in the Comox Valley, and owners, Charlotte and Dan Seal will be marking the occasion by hosting a fundraiser for the Comox Valley Child Development Association (CVCDA).

On Friday, July 16, 50 per cent of profits from all purchases made throughout the day (8 a.m. – 7 p.m.) will be donated to the CVCDA. Even profits from orders made online with SkipTheDishes or Door Dash will go toward the cause.

COBS Bread will also be offering every 10th customer a free gift. There will be the chance to enter to win one of two draw prizes - either a ‘Bread For A Year’ voucher ($220 value) or a Cobs Bread Selection Card for a free selection of baked goods ($60 value). The public can come down to Driftwood Mall, make their purchases, fill out a ballot and meet some of the CVCDA board members at the same time.

Can’t make it on the 16th? That’s OK; there’s a week-long promotion going on. All week long (July 10-16), for every six-pack of the ‘Gourmet’ hot dog or ‘Gourmet’ hamburger buns, COBS will donate $1 to the CVCDA.

So head on over to the Driftwood Mall and help out the CVCDA.

The Seals were drawn to the ‘fresh baked daily’ philosophy practiced by COBS. Additionally, quality ingredients, no added preservatives and scratch baking techniques captured their entrepreneurial imagination. These were just a few of the great characteristics that struck these two and created that warm, buttery smell and happy feeling when they first stepped foot in their local COBS back in Vancouver. When it came down to it, they just weren’t ready to part with the COBS fresh white rolls and hot cross buns they had come to know and love. “No where does hot cross buns like COBS” said owner Charlotte Seal. “ But this time of year, you can’t miss the Herb & Garlic Gourmet Buns!”

The COBS experience is also noted for going beyond their customers’ immediate needs because they strive to connect with the larger community as well: by donating their leftover baked goods at the end of each day, and being a real part of the communities where they operate.
