City of Courtenay residents could win one of two Samsung Galaxy Tab A 128GB Tablets, or one of several gift certificates to Courtenay businesses.

The city’s curbside collection schedule is changing in 2021, and the Courtenay Collects app is available to help residents adjust to the new collection zones and pickup days, and the new “add-a-day” calendar, with collection shifting by one day for all zones after each weekday statutory holiday. Courtenay Collects will remind you in advance of weekly collection days on your mobile device, and by text, email or voice message.

Find the Courtenay Collects app at www.courtenay.ca/recycling or download it through the App Store or Google Play, then click the trophy to fill in the contest entry form.

“Our Courtenay Collects app launched just over two years ago, and since then we’ve had great feedback from residents,” said Mayor Bob Wells. “It’s going to become even more useful once our collection schedule changes in January. In addition to the reminders for your collection day, you’ll also get service alerts if your collection is interrupted for things like snow storms or mechanical issues. We hope this contest will introduce even more residents to this helpful tool.”

In addition to collection day reminders and alerts, Courtenay Collects includes a “What Goes Where” feature. Simply type the name of a waste item and Courtenay Collects will tell you how to recycle or dispose of it.

Other features include custom printable calendars for your address, with collection days for the next 12 months. To learn more about upcoming curbside collection schedule changes visit www.courtenay.ca/recycling
