The Courtenay Evergreen Club is hosting an open house on Sept. 23, inviting prospective members to come "discover your path."
The club only holds an open house every two years, and it gives people a chance to explore the many activities offered to the 55+ community in the Comox Valley. The Evergreen Club has over 50 drop in Activity Clubs and most of them will have an info booth or activity set up at the Open House. Volunteers will be on hand around the building to answer questions about our programs, dining lounge, members’ bus trips, volunteering and special events. There will be demonstrations, activities, info booths, entertainment and door prizes! You can try Darts, Karaoke, Carpet Bowling, Table Tennis, Floor Curling and more. See how Mah-jong or Mexican Train are played, ask about our music groups or check out the Art Club. Drop into the Games Room and take a few shots on our snooker or 8 ball tables.
"Stop to talk to our many card clubs or admire the variety of craft groups as they work on their current projects," a release from the club says. "Meet the Second Stage Players, who would be delighted to tell you about our annual theatrical productions. Take a break with a complimentary beverage and treat at our “Coffee House” in the Conference Hall and enjoy the entertainment presented by some of our club’s musicians and singers."
During the event, the Evergreen Dining Lounge will also be fully open for lunch. The event will have a $7.50 hot meal special, as well as soups, sandwiches, salads and baked goods.
There are over 2,000 members of the Evergreen Club, and it operates out of the Filberg Centre with support from the City of Courtenay.
