Mayor Bob Wells joined Courtenay Legion president Gary Flath and Branch #17 service officer Bill Webb to launch the annual Poppy Campaign, Friday at Courtenay City Hall.

Each year, from the last Friday of October to Nov. 11, millions of Canadians wear a poppy as a visual pledge to honour Canada’s veterans and to remember those who sacrificed for our freedom. While the poppy is distributed freely to all who wish to wear one, the Legion gratefully accepts donations to the Poppy Fund.

Courtenay Legion is providing traditional poppy boxes that will accept coins. Volunteers will set up donation tables at various business locations, if deemed feasible and safe under BC Health directives.

Donations can be made directly to the Courtenay Legion by cheque, money order, or e-transfer.
