The results are in for the Easter Promenade – Home Edition.
This year, Courtenay Recreation came up with a seasonal contest by asking participants to decorate their houses for Easter using whatever materials they had on hand. They could paint the windows, decorate doors or put their hands to whatever creative Easter egg of an idea they could hatch.

The contest came in response to current physical/social distancing guidelines due to COVID-19. Recreation staff designed the event as a way for families to take part in an Easter celebration while still making sure to maintain a safe distance from others. Participants were asked to post pictures of their homes on the Courtenay Recreation Facebook page for a chance to win prizes. Winners were selected by the public, and all were offered a choice of a gift certificate to a local business of their choice.
First prize worth $100 went to Kimberley Harding; second prize ($90), Lisa Joseph; third prize ($80), Jessica Titley; fourth prize ($70), Diana Askew; and fifth prize ($60), Ricki Crispens. Other participants won $40.
Courtenay Recreation thanks all of those who took part in sharing their bright and colourful Easter ideas. For more information, contact the Florence Filberg Centre at 250-338-1000 or email lewis@courtenay.ca.
