Courtenay Recreation has spring break activities for kids

Courtenay Recreation has all kinds of programs for children and teens over spring break.

For three- to five-year-olds, the Little Adventures program features hands-on art projects and active games. The Spring Break Day Camp for kids aged five to 11 promises to be a lively week with games, sports, kitchen creations and more.

For creative kids, there’s Jewels, Gems and Groovy Crafts, Drawing and Painting Fun and Stained Glass Camp. Sports are also featured with Silly Sports for ages four to seven, as well as Junior Golf Camp, Floor Hockey and Flying Fox Circus Camp. And, Horse and Pony Camp (for eight years and older) rounds off an exciting week.

The LINC Youth Centre has programs for teens and tweens. Tweens will get to take over The LINC in the Tween Overnight Lock-IN for ages 10 to 12. All other LINC programs are for kids aged 11 to 18. The lineup includes Iron Chef Cooking Competition, Girls and the Move Sports Camp, Artsy Fartsy Boot Camp, Web Camp and Hula Hoopla.

Pickleball is an exciting paddle game played like a mini-tennis game with a plastic-style baseball and wood paddles. The 55-plus program runs Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Native Sons Hall from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

On March 28 in the morning, there’s Chair Massage for those 55 years and older. Reduce muscle tension and improve circulation in these relaxing appointments.

Call 250-338-5371 or 250-338-1000 for details on all these programs, or check out the new Spring Recreation Reporter or the City of Courtenay website www.courtenay.ca (click on the Recreation Reporter link). Register early to avoid disappointment.
