Cozy Corner Preschool at the Lewis Centre will soon be even more affordable for participants.
The preschool, operated by Courtenay Recreation, has been selected as a provider under the Provincial Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative.
In addition, starting this fall, Cozy Corner is offering more sessions and extended hours to expand service to the community. Sessions are now either three or four hours and take place Monday/Wednesday/Friday (morning or afternoon) or Tuesday/Thursday (morning or afternoon).
More details about reduced rates under the Provincial Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative will be provided to participants once available. Courtenay Recreation anticipates learning more about the specific fee reduction later this month.
September participants will be credited retroactively for the fee adjustment once this information is available.
Cozy Corner is a well-rounded preschool focusing on learning through play to help children think creatively. Materials are both fun and educational. The program includes outdoor playtime and explorations in gardening, art and science. All activities emphasize social skill development while promoting a love of learning.
The facility includes a new accessible outdoor play space designed for children from two to five years old and featuring fun age-appropriate equipment like a saddle spinner, custom play fort, log steppers, rain sound wheel panel, junior drum, junior goblet drums and Cascadia bells. The play space is used by preschool participants when in session but is also available to the public after 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and all day on the weekends.
