Have you ever been curious about what lies behind the doors, fences and hedges of “Legendary Cumberland?” This is your chance to find out.

The fourth annual Cumberland Home and Garden Tour is coming up on Saturday, June 16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Don’t miss this exciting and exclusive glimpse into the heritage homes, art studios, gardens, churches, urban farms and amazing built spaces of the historic Village of Cumberland.

This unique made-in-Cumberland tour features surprises and discoveries around every corner. Properties range from grand old hilltop heritage homes and stunning vacation properties to creative studio spaces and urban farms. All 19 properties are within cycling or walking distance.

Explore the nooks and crannies in one of Cumberland’s oldest commercial buildings right in the heart of the commercial core. Explore beautiful medicinal herb gardens, watch beekeepers in action, feed the chickens, learn about Cumberland’s rich social history, check out stunning art displays, take in some amazing heritage restorations, and kick back and enjoy music in the sanctuary of an old church. This is the perfect day to uncover the hidden stories of the people who helped build the village.

“The Cumberland Home and Garden Tour is a really special reflection of our amazing little village,” said Meaghan Cursons of the Cumberland Community Forest Society, organizers of this annual tour. “We have a mix of old and new, and everything in between. People are excited to welcome people in and share the personal stories of their homes and properties, and reveal why they fell in love with the village. This year we are really privileged to have some of Cumberland’ most quintessential heritage houses on the tour. But we also have some really cool surprises like homes on wheels, tiny homes and bridal cabins. This is definitely not your typical garden tour. We invite folks to make a day of it, stop for lunch or locally brewed beers, drop in at the museum and finish the day off with dinner in town, a hike in the Cumberland Forest or a refreshing dip at Comox Lake.”

Join us on a legendary adventure complete with surprise house concerts, art shows, plant sales and tasty treats along the way. Tickets are $25, available at Art Knapps or Design Therapy in Courtenay, or Rare Bird Books and Rusty Rooster in Cumberland. Or buy online through ticket links at cumberlandforest.com.

Tickets are redeemed for souvenir passports the day of the event in Village Square next to the Wandering Moose at Third and Dunsmuir.

The Cumberland Home and Garden Tour is sponsored by First Credit Union and Insurance. One hundred per cent of funds raised support the Cumberland Community Forest Society and upcoming purchases in the fall of 2018 of threatened forest lands on the south side of the village of Cumberland along Perseverance Creek.
