The summer camping season at Lake Park Campground is expected to be busy as people continue to look for safe outdoor activities and local vacations.

Campers will be able to reserve week-long stays starting March 25 at 10 a.m. and general reservations will open April 1 at 10 a.m. In addition to traditional RV and tent sites, the campground also features five new walk-in sites.

The campground will be open to Vancouver Island residents only, until essential travel restrictions are lifted. Once these restrictions are lifted, the campground will be open to B.C. residents. Currently, B.C. residents can book for an arrival date of July 5 or later.

Cumberland Lake Park Campground is a hidden gem that offers plenty of activities and fun for the entire family. In addition to a concession, paddlesport rentals and summer camps, the campground will also be offering free programs this summer via a park interpreter program. The park interpreter will be offering free guided walks, children’s programs, guest speakers, watershed canoe tours and evening programs for all ages. You don’t need to be staying at the campground to join in the fun. However, the total number of participants will be limited.

The campground is located five km west of Cumberland on the shores of Comox Lake. The hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, disc golfing, paddling and swimming are all easily accessible and offer a variety of challenges for every member of the family, from the laid-back beach goer to the aspiring adventurer.

Cumberland Lake Wilderness Society (CLWS) is a not-for-profit organization with the mission to create wonder and connection through outdoor experiences. CLWS serves residents from the Comox Valley and beyond by providing opportunities for outdoor experiences that celebrate nature, community, recreation and learning. CLWS has been contracted by the Village of Cumberland for the overall management and operation of Cumberland Lake Park and Campground since 2015.

Campground reservations can be made online at cumberlandlakepark.ca. Campers are recommended to prepare backup options for preferred campsites and dates, in case their first choice books up fast. In order to fulfill contract tracing requirements, please have contact information for everyone in your camping group when booking.
