2017 marks an exciting year at the Cumberland Museum and Archives where building improvements and accessibility projects will transform the exterior of the museum.

To match these changes the museum is revitalizing its interior front entry with the Kumugwe Exhibit - featuring the stunning Kumugwe mask carved by Kwakwaka’wakw and K’ómoks First Nation youth artist Karver Everson.

“Our culture and language, like many other First Nations, is in danger of disappearing,” said Everson.

“I have made a commitment to myself to do what I can to preserve who we are as a people.”

A campaign to help raise funds for the exhibit runs from May 1 - May 22. Contribute online at CanadaHelps, at Village Market Days on May 20, or at the museum during regular business hours.

Donations above $500 will be acknowledged within the exhibit.

“Bringing this new, permanent exhibit to life is a significant step for the museum,” said executive director Michelle Willard. “Thank you for your support.”
