Parents and children started trick or treating in the sunshine, Wednesday afternoon in downtown Courtenay.

As per the annual tradition, merchants — some donning costumes — lined Fifth Avenue, greeting youngsters as they began their Halloween fun.

Courtenay Recreation and the Downtown Courtenay Business Improvement Association hosted some fun events on Duncan Avenue, followed by a party at the Lewis Centre.
