Entrants wanted for Courtenay Grande Parade

Courtenay’s Grande Parade on Friday, July 1 will be even more fun than in the past.

The route down Fifth Street will take you back to the 1950s. Downtown merchants will have their storefronts decorated with the parade’s theme of Back to the '50s and the sounds broadcasting all along the parade route will be music from the '50s.

This is your wakeup call to get your parade applications in and your entry ready to rock and roll. Applications are available at Courtenay City Hall and on the new July 1 Committee’s website at www.comoxvalleycanadaday.ca.

The Canada Day Parade is about two hours long and follows about a one mile route straight down Fifth Street.

The parade application form is for clowns, marchers, bands, floats, bikes, and cars  or whatever you wish to be part of the parade. Entry is free.

Assembly of all entries is organized by parade marshall Larry Jangula and his team, who will contact all entries with their suggestion of where to park, to gather, on one of the side roads at the top of the route.

Over $1,500 in prizes is being offered. For information and applications, go to www.comoxvalleycanadaday.ca.
