The Comox Valley Horticultural Society (CVHS) invites you to attend Gardens in Bloom, a two-day, self-guided tour of 10 private Comox Valley gardens, Sept. 21 and 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This year’s event will celebrate the rich tapestry of colours displayed in fall blooming plants, grasses and foliage. A garden selection team has worked hard to find a wide range of gardens. You’ll see rare and unusual plants, inviting garden structures, beautiful water features and even one styled after the acclaimed gardens of Piet Oudolf.

“We strive to offer something for everyone, from the novice gardener who wants to know what to plant where, to the veteran gardener looking for inspiration, and to those who simply want to enjoy nature’s stunning beauty as autumn unfolds!” the team says.

The tour is an important fundraiser for the CVHS, with proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships being returned to the community through grants. Since its inception in 2008, the Gardens in Bloom tour has raised over $26,000, and grants have been awarded to more than 35 non-profit organizations, schools and community groups for the development or enhancement of horticultural activities and gardening projects.

Some initiatives have included educational programs for children as well as therapeutic and community garden development.
