The Glacier View Lodge Society invites community members to join The Grand Parade on Saturday Sept. 16.
Check-in starts at 10 a.m. at Marina Park Comox, for a leisurely 2.5 km stroll to Filberg Lodge and back.
The Grand Parade is a family-friendly walk that helps raise funds to support the residents at Glacier View Lodge and seniors in the Comox Valley community. Grand Parade walks take place all across Canada on Sept. 16 as individuals, families, friends and businesses come together to show support for seniors – with funds raised locally staying in the community.
This year the goal is to help fund the Music Therapy Program and initiatives to help develop Glacier View Lodge lands to continue the legacy of more than 75 years of community supported care for seniors. Music is one of the joys that provides great benefit to seniors, particularly those living with dementia. Walking on behalf of seniors is a wonderful way to support your community, and a great team building opportunity enjoying light exercise combined with the spectacular local scenery.
All are welcome to participate in the walk. Sponsorship and pledges are encouraged to help the GVLS reach its goal, but all are welcome to join in supporting seniors by participating in the Parade. It is easy to join – simply sign up online in advance. Check in-starts at 10 a.m. at Comox Marina Park, rain or shine!
There will be snacks for the walkers, special guests to celebrate the send-off and an opportunity to purchase local art on display with proceeds to support the Glacier View Lodge. This year, the new community funded Glacier View Lodge shuttle will allow a few of the residents to participate in an outing to the event, demonstrating first hand how fundraising helps improve ongoing access and quality of life for local seniors.
Don’t wait to participate – sign up now, and encourage your friends and co-workers to come out to celebrate local seniors in our community. Register at thegrandparade.org/location/comoxvalley
