Ham radio field day this weekend (June 25-26)

CQ-CQ-CQ this is VE7CVW, Comox Valley Amateur Radio Club (CVARC), inviting the general public and all amateur radio operators (active or inactive) to the 40th annual field day operations.

This event will take place from 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, to 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 26.

The location for this year’s event will be at the 386 Sqn. RCACS building on Military Row, Comox (near the static aircraft displays). Plenty of free parking will be available. The public is invited to drop by and watch, listen, and ask questions, as the CVARC ham operators endeavour to make worldwide communication contacts.

Amateur radio field days are part educational event, part operating event, part public relations event and all about fun, with the primary objective being to work as many stations as possible on any and all amateur bands and to learn to operate in abnormal situations in less than optimal conditions, in preparation for emergency response requests. Come out and explore the world of amateur radio. Visit with the ham radio operators and view their equipment. The CVARC is a non-profit organization, made up of volunteer radio operators, who are prepared to set up communication links in any emergency or community service situations, when called upon to do so.
