A group of Comox Valley businesses are running a Holiday Hamper Drive in an effort to give back to the community over the coming Christmas season.

Until Dec. 15, organizers are accepting hamper donations, namely non-perishable food such as boxed stuffing, gravy, sauces, and canned or dried goods. Grocery gift cards and gifts for children six- to 12 years are also welcomed.

“Cash is great too,” said Ana Fleck, owner of Invis Pacific View Mortgages in Comox.

In past years, staff members at Nicole Cahoon Accounting tried to involve the firm with a Christmas hamper drive. This year, they decided to organize their own. They started by reaching out to elementary schools to determine if there were families who might appreciate a hamper.

“We’ve committed to 10 (families) but our goal is to do more,” Brianne Clare said. “We have a sponsorship/registration form in the works that people can nominate and apply.”

Drop-off locations during business hours are:

•Nicole Cahoon Accounting, 350 17th St. Unit #1, Courtenay

•Invis Pacific View Mortgages, 1984 Comox Ave.

•Mindset Wealth, 145 19th St., Courtenay

•The Ironside Salon, 220-470 Puntledge Rd., Courtenay.

“We’re trying to make it as easy as we can for everybody,” Clare said.

Monetary donations will help purchase perishables shortly before deliveries, and topping up other items needed.
