Multi-instrumental duo perform at family barbecue

The Comox Valley Multicultural & Immigrant Support Society hosts a Mother's Day family barbecue at the Maple Pool campsite soccer field from 12:30-4:30 p.m. Saturday at 4659 Headquarters Rd.

The event features a performance by Buleria de la Isla, a collaboration of Mexican-born vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Oscar 'El Cuervo’ Robels and vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Brit ‘de la Luna’ of the Comox Valley. The duo creates music inspired by a rich variety of traditions and employ authentic instrumentation such as nylon-stringed guitar and tres Cubano (a Cuban-style guitar and palmas, or handclaps. The focus is Latin-American folk songs but they also touch upon Flamenco.

Admission for members is $3 for adults or $10 for a family of four. Non-members are $5 for adults or $15 for a family of four. Children under six are free.
