Salvation Army Comox Valley dishes up turkey dinners

Comox Mayor Russ Arnott, Cumberland Mayor Leslie Baird and Courtenay-Comox MLA Ronna Ray Leonard helped the Salvation Army serve 117 turkey dinners over the lunch hour, Tuesday, Dec. 14 at St. George’s United Church in Courtenay.

Ricky’s All Day Grill donated 100 turkeys to the Sonshine Lunch Club, which operates a soup kitchen each weekday at the church. Volunteers from a different charity serve meals each day. The local branch of the Salvation Army is the Tuesday charity.

The Salvation Army Comox Valley Ministries rely on donations to provide Christmas hampers, gift cards, school backpacks, and classes in forklift training, first aid and other courses.

Donations can be made by mail or in person at the church office and at Salvation Army thrift stores. The office address is:
