Sewer pipe inspections will be taking place at various locations in Courtenay over the next few weeks.

A contractor will be inspecting sewer pipes in Courtenay starting Sept. 29 and continuing for approximately three weeks.

The work may result in temporary traffic impacts at various times on sections of 29th Street, 26th Street, Kilpatrick Avenue, Cliffe Avenue, Comox Road, Ryan Road, Back Road, and Lerwick Road.

Although every reasonable effort will be made to minimize the disruption to traffic, motorists should be prepared for minor delays. Roadways may be reduced to single lane alternating traffic flow directly adjacent to working crews with traffic control personnel on-site. Commuters are asked to be patient, slow down, and obey all traffic control personnel.

Sewer pipe inspections involve using a remote control camera to grade the condition of the underground sanitary and drainage pipes in order to prioritize utility renewal throughout the City, as part of Courtenay’s comprehensive asset management program.
