There is still time to sign up for NIC Youth Academy Summer Camps, but spots are filling quickly.

Camps run Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. throughout the summer at NIC’s Comox Valley campus. Health and safety plans are in place to ensure students can take part in the camps safely.

Ali Sandholm, NIC youth & community outreach liaison, said an exciting summer of hands-on fun and learning awaits participants.

“We’re so excited to have the variety of camps available this year,” she said. “There really is something for every interest.”

The Code-Con summer camp for ages 12-14 runs July 26-30, with a focus on programming, design, and technology.

The Mad Scientist summer camp returns for a second week Aug. 9-13 with a focus on physics, chemistry and biology.

Also featured in August is the Jr. Adventure Guides camp, Aug. 16-20 where participants ages 12-14 will learn how to explore and lead in the outdoors through fun games and challenges.

The French Language summer camp Aug. 23-27 is geared towards French immersion students ages 12-14 and is a great way to prepare for a return to school in September.

Youth Academy camps are made possible thanks to support from program funders, including the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Shaw, BC Hydro, Engineers and Geoscientists of BC and the Hamber Foundation.
