The summer seasonal farmers’ markets are now open. In addition to the year-round Saturday market there are now two more markets available. These markets include Wednesdays in downtown Courtenay and Sundays in Cumberland. The downtown Courtenay market runs every Wednesday from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. until Aug. 29 and is located in the old Thrifty Foods parking lot at 660 England Ave. The Cumberland market runs every Sunday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. until Sept. 16 and is located in the Village Square (Between Wandering Moose Café and Cumberland Village Bakery).

Both these seasonal markets offer the same variety of local goodness you know and love. There will be live music at both locations and a kids’ table at the Sunday market. As well as being in easy walking distance, there is ample parking at both locations.

During the summer months expect to find berries of all kinds, salad greens, herbs, carrots, zucchini, tomatoes, cucumbers, peaches and so many more fresh fruits and vegetables.

There will also be a variety of meats including chicken, pork and beef. For the sweet tooth there is delicious homemade baking such as berry pies, crackers, cookies and muffins. You will also find sauces, ice cream, Popsicles, body products and so much more.

Come for the freshness, stay for the fun.
