Trio of Comox Valley writers to discuss books

Three local writers will discuss their recently published books on Tuesday at the Muir Gallery at 7 p.m.

Wildlife biologist Dr. John Bindernagel will address The Discovery of the Sasquatch: Reconciling Culture, History, and Science in the Discovery Process.

This presentation will offer insights not only about a potentially uncategorized species, but also about why scientists have thus far declined to investigate it. According to one reviewer, “People who like to think will love this book.”

Educator Dr. Terry James will present the research behind Prader-Willi Syndrome: Quality of Life and Prader-Willi Syndrome: Growing Older.

The first book presents a comprehensive overview of this rare genetic disorder throughout the lifespan; the second focuses on quality of life considerations for those over the age of 40 years.

John Peters, an engineer with 25 years experience working in Third-World countries, will explain the background to his second novel, Beyond the Oasis.

Peters uses the novel form to describe some of his African experiences. Writing with a wry humour, he strips away the pretensions and earnestness of development work to show real people encountering conflicts and challenges in a foreign culture.

This public evening is sponsored by the Comox Valley Writers' Society and hosted at the Muir Gallery, courtesy of the Comox Valley Community Arts Council.

Come and meet the authors. Refreshments will be provided. Everyone is welcome.
