Twenty four Comox Valley groups in line to receive provincial grants

A total of 24 arts, culture and sporting groups in the Comox Valley are to receive some of the $45 million in provincial grants distributed this year to B.C. organizations.

A total of 24 arts, culture and sporting groups in the Comox Valley are to receive some of the $45 million in provincial grants distributed this year to B.C. organizations.

Eleven sports organizations in Courtenay will receive money:

•B.C. Seniors Games Society, $33,000

•Comox Valley Ringette Association, $6,000

•Comox Valley Aquatic Club, $43,000

•Comox Valley Baseball Association, $20,000

•Breakers Women’s Hockey, $3,000

•Comox Valley Curling Club, $10,000

•Raiders Youth Football Club, $25,000

•Comox Valley Skating Club, $27,000

•Comox Valley Volleyball Club, $11,000

•Mt. Washington Ski Club, $24,500

•Comox Valley Minor Hockey Association, $100,000

A further seven Courtenay organizations are to receive money from the arts and culture sector:

•Comox Valley Art Gallery, $45,000

•Community Arts Council, $23,000

•Comox Valley Exhibition Association, $45,000

•Comox Valley Youth Music Centre, $19,000

•Courtenay and District Historical Society, $47,000

•Rainbow Youth Theatre Society, $4,500

•The Alberni Project Society, $9,000

Comox beneficiaries include Chimo Gymnastics ($40,000), the Comox Valley Lacrosse Association ($11,400), Comox Archives & Museum Society ($16,500) and the Performing Arts BC Festivals Society ($20,400).

The Cumberland and District Historical Society is to receive $11,100, and the Hornby Festival Society $8,000.
