After selling 982 of the 1,000 tickets, and raising $19,640, the Comox Valley Rotary Club (CVRC) announced the three lucky winners in this year’s Everyone Eats Raffle.

Thea Miller of Comox was the grand prize winner of $1,000 in gift cards from local restaurants (10 x $100).

Sarah O’Donnell of Comox won the second prize, of $800 in gift cards from local restaurants and food providers (8 x $100), and Payton Gartside of Courtenay won the third-place prize of $500 in Comox Valley Farmers’ Market tokens.

The success of the Everyone Eats Raffle has enabled the club to give significant support to Comox Valley Food Bank, Lush Valley Food Action Society, and other Rotary projects.

“Food security is a big problem for many people living in the Valley, and more so now than ever. We are pleased to play a part in supporting food security in the Comox Valley,” said CVRC president, Amanda Wood.

The raffle also helped local businesses having a rougher time than usual these days. Rather than asking businesses to donate prizes, the prizes were purchased from a variety of local food-related businesses, including growers, food retailers, restaurants, and caterers.

“Supporting locally-owned businesses is so important to helping our whole community thrive,” said Wood.
