YANA hosting dinner auction

February is a great time for a celebration and that’s exactly what happens at You Are Not Alone’s (YANA) dinner auction.

February is a great time for a celebration and that’s exactly what happens at You Are Not Alone’s (YANA) dinner auction.

It’s a celebration of the community that so enthusiastically supports this homegrown organization. It’s a chance for those who are very familiar with YANA and those who aren’t to come together, to laugh and cry and share the warmth of helping families with sick children.

YANA was started in 1986 by Sandra Williams when her family discovered firsthand the devastation of having a child at Children’s Hospital in Vancouver and a family here in the Comox Valley. Thanks to her vision and the hard work of her friends and family, YANA was born.

With four apartments near B.C. Children’s Hospital, assistance with the financial burden and the knowledge that you are not alone, families from our community are able to concentrate on the love and care of their children rather than the devastation that can otherwise occur.

At the Florence Filberg Centre on Feb. 25, the doors open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner is served at 7. There’s a silent and live auction with the always-entertaining Dave Stevens.

Tickets are $50, available by calling the YANA office at 250-871-0343. Table sponsorship is also available for $150.

Donations for the auction will be gratefully accepted.

They can be dropped off at the YANA office, 495 Fitzgerald Ave. in Courtenay on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or pickup can be arranged by calling Lucy Slater at 250-897-0990.
