Artists come together for a fundraising concert to celebrate spring

PRISMA is celebrating its fifth year with a bright and ambitious 2017 season

The Pacific Region International Summer Music Academy (PRISMA), a festival in Powell River, is celebrating its fifth year with a bright and ambitious 2017 season.

The fundraiser includes performances by internationally-acclaimed artists at 7:30 p.m. April 11 at the Max Cameron Theatre in Powell River, and at 7:30 p.m. April 12 at the Native Son’s Hall in Courtenay. Tickets to both concert performances begin at $25. Tickets are available at Blue Heron Books in Courtenay and at Laughing Oyster Book Shop in Comox.

Tickets for either fundraiser are available online at prismafestival.com/tickets. For an additional $50 per ticket, Powell River and Courtenay concert goers can enjoy a pre-concert catered reception beginning at 6 p.m., featuring quality wine from 40 Knots Winery and a chance to mingle with the performers.

This year’s guest artists include flutist Janet Arms, member of the New York City Opera Orchestra since 1988, Marc Goldberg, renowned bassoonist and Juilliard faculty member, and vocalist Christina Hutten.

Those attending the Courtenay event will hear from the Island Voices Chamber Choir and vocalist Jenn Forsland. Both events will be hosted by none other than PRISMA’s Maestro, Arthur Arnold.
