Big Band Afternoon

On Sunday, April 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Florence Filberg Centre Conference Hall, the Evergreen Seniors Club and the Georgia Strait Big Band once again present an afternoon of live big band music.

On Sunday, April 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Florence Filberg Centre Conference Hall, the Evergreen Seniors Club and the Georgia Strait Big Band once again present an afternoon of live big band music.

The Georgia Strait Big Band is a full 17-piece swing band, led by conductor Gregory Bush, professor of music from Vancouver Island University.

Special guest, vocalist Lauren Bush, will sing many of your favourite big band tunes.

Once again this year, the Georgia Strait Ballroom Dancers will perform spotlight dances and will be “working the audience” to get the dance floor moving.

Says band manager Rob Peterson, “Last year’s afternoon dance was a smash success, attended by 150 enthusiastic fans of that big band sound.”

So, get those dancing shoes on and be part of a great afternoon of entertainment and fun, with tea and coffee served.

Tickets are $12 and available in advance at Bop City Records and the Filberg office.

Doors open at 12:30 p.m.

The Georgia Strait Big Band thanks all its major sponsors: Beltone Hearing Care Centre, Georgia Straight Jazz Society, Long and McQuade and The Lounge Radio 99.9.
