Comox Valley artist, Neil Havers, will have some of his recent paintings showcased in the foyer of the Crown Isle Resort Centre from Oct. 1 to Nov. 31.

“My focus is primarily Comox Valley and west coast Vancouver Island landscapes. There is limitless inspiration out there,” said Havers.

Havers has had a long relationship with Crown Isle, including golfing with the ‘Wolf Pack’ every Friday afternoon since the days before the resort was built. After 30 years of that tradition, COVID-19 made the group take a break and Havers pursed painting.

“I became interested in painting prior to the pandemic, and pursued it heavily throughout the lockdown stages and have been painting ever since,” said Havers. “It’s ironic to be back at Crown Isle, not for golf, but to showcase my new passion, landscape painting.”

His focus is plein air painting in the spring, summer and fall and painting in his studio/gallery in the water months on 11th Street in Courtenay. He paints primarily with acrylics but is now experimenting with oils so that he can paint on location throughout the winter.
