The results of Comox Valley Land Trust photo contest are in!
Maxwel Hohn, a local cinematographer and diver, won first prize for his underwater photo of a group of sea lions, taken near Hornby Island. The judges appreciated the composition of this photograph.
Kristiana Bardsnes won second prize for her stunning and dramatic portrayal of a barred owl. The third-place image was taken by Hadrien Jouet, who also won second prize last year. The judges decided that his photo of a northern flicker peering out of its nest cavity was well composed and technically well done.
The judging panel was comprised of three talented local photographers, and prizes were provided by London Drugs, Mount Washington Alpine Resort and Comox Valley Kayaks and Canoes.
This contest is about celebrating nature as a defining feature of the Comox Valley – something worth preserving. As a charity that works to conserve and restore nature, the Comox Valley Land Trust has played a significant role in protecting more than 670 hectares of ecologically significant land since 1999.
CV Land Trust staff and volunteers are already looking forward to next year’s contest!
