Local music and art collective, CVGBs is returning to the Comox Valley with a Tribute to David Bowie, taking place at the Comox Valley Curling Centre. All the proceeds of the show are going to Rainbow House, a new housing project for queer youth at risk of homelessness.
On Oct. 12, at 7 p.m., there will be a diverse musical line-up that will do 12 minute performances. Artists include Space Junk Removal Service, Avro, KMVP (from Nanaimo), Wylie Marr, Captain Hofish, Sonder, TV Dreams, Captain Thunderpants, suffer fools, Macaque Attack, with more still to be added. Most musical acts are local to the Comox Valley. The event will be MCed by local comedian, Patti Savard. The show will also feature a Drag performance by two local Queens.
This is a fundraiser for Rainbow House, a partnership between Dawn to Dawn and the Pride Society of the Comox Valley, supported by Hereditary leadership and the K’omoks First Nation. With all the acts donating their time and talent, there will also be a special raffle of unique David Bowie memorabilia, such as books, lunchboxes, playing cards, hats and pins, sponsored by Bartle & Gibson Plumbing and Electric.
The event takes place at the newly renovated Rotary Banquet room at the Comox Valley Curling Centre. Church St. Taphouse Social curling League will be on the ice and sharing the adjacent Extra End Lounge.
Tickets are $25 advance for 19+, $10 for minors who are are only able to stay until 10 p.m..
