The Second Stage Players are at it again, aiming right for your funny bone with their matinée performances of Murphy’s Wake coming up on March 15 and 16.

This comedy is written and directed by renowned author Betty Annand. Betty leads her troupe of actors with gusto. At 93, she shows no signs of slowing down and continues to bring the joy of theatre to the Florence Filberg Centre.

This year, you are in for a treat. Celtic Thyme will be playing for the pre-show and the intermission. As their name suggests, they specialize in Celtic music. This popular group has appeared in many venues throughout the Comox Valley.

The cast is filled with zany characters that gather at Aline’s home for a wake, commemorating her dear departed husband. It seems that her husband has been up to some shenanigans which have produced some interesting twists in the plot. You’ll want to see this light-hearted comedy.

Murphy’s Wake will be performed at the Florence Filberg Centre’s Conference Hall on Sunday, March 15 and Monday, March 16 at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $10, which includes refreshments. For tickets, visit or call the Florence Filberg Centre office, 250-338-1000, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door as well.
