Did you know that Denman Island has more artists per capita than almost any other Canadian community?

Denman is a veritable artists' enclave. We're proud of our artists on this little island, and we love the chance to show off our talent.

This August, you'll have a chance to see some of the talent we're so proud of! Twenty-nine artists in 24 studios will open their doors to the public on Aug. 18 and 19 for the annual Denman Island Art Studio Tour.

The artist's studio is the ultimate creative space, and the Studio Tour is your chance to peek into 24 unique studios. Witness the creative process, and the beautiful, original creations of 29 unique creators.

Our tour this year is diverse and inclusive, featuring the spaces of established professional fine artists and craftspeople alongside young emerging artists and talented newcomers experimenting with unconventional media.

From sculpture, painting, photography, and ceramics, to collage, jewelry, mixed media, and quilts, there is something to please every taste and persuasion.

The tour is free to the public! Pick up your map at the Arts Centre hub, or at the Denman Island General Store or at Abraxas books, starting a week before the tour.

On last year's tour, visitors were charmed by the magical experience of visiting Quilt Forest, which is, quite literally, a forest of quilts! Barb Mortell and Stacey Armstrong are fabric artists who put a modern spin on traditional quilt making. They are known for their daring use of colour.

The Denman Island Art Studio Tour happens Aug. 18 and 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. all over Denman Island, with a hub at the Denman Island Arts Centre in the Denman Village.
