East Van Morrison offers soulful twist

East Van Morrison brings a soulful twist to the timeless Van Morrison songbook.

East Van Morrison brings a soulful twist to the timeless Van Morrison songbook.

It is the musicians, of course, that make this a “be there or be square” event.

Dalannah Gail Bowen is a veteran jazz/ blues high-energy vocalist who takes these songs into new territory.

Karen Graves plays soprano and tenor sax. She is both original and adventurous, last seen playing with the 10-piece soul/funk band Soulstream.

Simon Kendall spent over a decade as keyboardist with Doug and the Slugs before going on to become an award-winning film composer.

Paul Bergman anchors the group on acoustic bass.

An East Van Morrison concert is described as classic tunes with beautiful soul and space — highly recommended.

East Van Morrison performs Saturday, Aug. 25 at the Denman Back Hall at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7.

A concession will be offered by Rain Hood.

Tickets cost $15 and will be available at the door.
