Head to the Village of Cumberland this Thursday evening for the fourth concert in the new Elevate Summer Concert Series.

This exciting, free series is produced by Elevate in partnership with Cumberland Village Works and with support from Long & McQuade (Courtenay), The Waverley Hotel, Riders Pizza and the Village of Cumberland every Thursday till Aug. 15 in Village Square from 7-9:30 p.m.

The July 25 concert event features Luca Fogale and Annie Becker.

The honesty in Fogale’s voice is impossible to ignore, elevating songs rooted in the folk tradition to soulful hymns about the human condition. With influences from Joni Mitchell to Bob Dylan, Fogale’s reflective and sometimes melancholic songwriting pulls the listener into a deeply hypnotic meditation on redemption and transcendence. Based in western Canada, Fogale has opened for Dermot Kennedy, Serena Ryder, Hayden and Frazey Ford, and he has toured in Canada, the U.S., Australia and Japan. Fogale’s music has been featured on Grey’s Anatomy, NCIS: Los Angeles and Station 19, and his catalogue has over 13 million streams between Spotify and Apple Music.

Somewhere between the chorus of a Broadway musical and the bustling streets of British Columbia, Annie Becker was born. It’s hard to believe this girl is from the West Coast and not from the basement of a late-30s jazz club. Becker has been cloaking her audiences in a sea of horns, guitars, pianos, basses, ukuleles and drums laced with sultry soundscapes and groovy beatboxing styles over stages and streets across Canada. This is music you can play loud in your car.

The Elevate Summer Concert Series is all about facilitating barrier-free, street level, community connected access to live music in the Village of Cumberland.
