Jazzy sounds fill air at Filberg

The Georgia Strait Big Band is thrilled to once again perform at Filberg Parks Summer Sounds Series on June 19.

The Georgia Strait Big Band is thrilled to once again perform at Filberg Parks Summer Sounds Series on June 19.

 

The audience can look forward to a well-tuned band that delivers crisp renditions of Big Band hits fromthe '30s,'40s and '50s, along with creative modernized arrangements, written by the band's "conductor extrordinaire" Gregory Bush, Professor of Music at Vancouver Island University.

 

This year's Big Band campaign has been another roaring success with many highlights that included a road trip performance to Port Hardy, entertaining an audience of 250.

 

The June 19 performance marks the final vocal performance with the band for Sue Medley, who has been the band's princiipal vocalist for the past two years. Band manager Rob Peterson commented, "The band totally lucked out when Sue joined us. To have such an incredibly talented musician, songwriter and power house vocalist work with us, has truly been an honour and the band extends a big 'thank-you' to Sue for the giving of her time and energy to our band."
