THE LENSMEN will stir up the golden age of crooners this Thursday at the Elks Hall in Courtenay.

This week, Thursday night music continues at the Elks’ Hall with The Lensmen bringing old favorites to life.

Romping through a spectrum of styles from the beginnings of Jazz to the '50s, The Lensmen add their own flair to the mix.

An original member of the Desperation Jazz Band, behind the drum kit, Len Wilkie’s vocals stir up the golden age of crooners, reminiscent of Ol’ Blue Eyes himself.

Al West grounds the group with upright bass and lights things up with banjo and lively vocals. Newcomer Mike Eddy brings a degree in classical piano to his jazz renditions. Noel Thomas, another Desperation Jazz Band original, enjoys variations of style on the cornet.

The piano styling of Mike Eddy and Noel Thomas’ smooth sensitivity and Dixieland feel round out the group. The music starts at 7:30, Thursday, June 23 and is by donation.
