The Pearl Ellis Gallery presents "Outside In," a group show featuring the works of Maggie Ziegler, Sharon Lalonde, Shea Kotilla, Jean Cockburn, Lynn Farwell, Larissa McLean, and Elaine Smith. This exhibition runs from Sept. 17 to Oct. 12.
The concept behind "Outside In" is the various sources of artistic inspiration. It goes beyond the visible world, into the emotions and feelings that drive creativity.
The artists in the exhibition draw from their surroundings, memories, and personal experiences with their emotions to create pieces that not only depict but also connect on a deeper level. While technical skill is essential, the artists in "Outside In" aim to show their work with personal expression.
"Outside In" challenges the belief that art must replicate reality. Instead, the artists in the exhibition focus on capturing their inspiration and invite viewers to engage with their work on an emotional level. When Shea Kotilla painted "Come In", she sought to capture the warmth and inviting atmosphere of a shop front at dusk. The angular lines and glowing light suggest a quiet welcome, urging the viewer to step inside.
Meet the artists and experience their work firsthand at the opening reception on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.. The Pearl Ellis Gallery is open Tues. to Sat., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Admission is free.
