Reading and open mic at North Island College tonight

Join NIC’s English department on March 23 at NIC’s Tyee Hall lounge for a reading and open mic featuring local writers Maggie Denhearn and Janet Miller.

Come early to sign up for an open mic reading. You will be given five minutes to share your work.

Margaret Hearnden, who writes with the pen name Maggie Denhearn, will read from her debut mystery novel, When the Universe Called. The novel is set in Bowser/Qualicum, where she has lived for the past four and a half years.

When she is not writing, she works as a global learning facilitator in NIC’s Office of Global Engagement.

An award-winning fiction writer, Janet Miller was lured to the Comox Valley by green fields, ‘Eggs for Sale’ signs, eagles, ravens, rivers and sandy beaches. Writing since childhood she has found her niche in the succinctness of the short story.

The event runs from 7-9 p.m.
