Rock and roll with Baynes Sound

The Fanny Bay Hall was rockin’ as the Baynes Sound, a local-grown band of baby boomers, performed a fundraiser for the hall.

The Fanny Bay Hall was rockin’ and rollin’ recently as the Baynes Sound, a local-grown band of baby boomers, performed song after song as a fundraiser for the hall.

Chris Cook, Ken Land, Doug Zilkie, Mike Smith, and Franc Charpentier all started jamming together in the Union Bay-Fanny Bay area last year.

When so many baby boomers heard them play and enjoyed their rock-and-roll dance music, the group got together with the board of directors at the hall and set out to raise funds for wheelchair-accessible toilets.

A full licensed bar, baked goods donated by Union Bay’s Just Like Mom’s, and door prizes donated by the Royston Roasting Company augmented the occasion.

The sold-out event earned $750 for the hall, which the band presented to Neville Hope, a board member for the Fanny Bay Community Association.

Check out the Baynes Sound on June 23 at the Union Bay Hall. More details available at the Baynes Sound Facebook page.
