Since 2002, sisters Colleen and Erin Searson have been touring full time as Searson.

Their live concerts feature a mix of original vocal and instrumental selections, as well as a few traditional gems. Colleen handles the high-energy fiddling, Erin is a piano virtuoso and plays tenor guitar, and both girls contribute Ottawa Valley step-dancing and gorgeous (sibling) vocal harmonies. Their talents are complimented by Kian Byrne, a multi-instrumentalist (acoustic and electric guitars, bass, mandolin, fiddle, percussion) and singer-songwriter from Kansas City. Formerly a member of The Elders, and heavily influenced by Celtic, reggae, soul and funk music, Byrne rounds out the band in a way that makes it sound bigger than your typical trio, and more eclectic than words can express.

Searson has toured across Canada, the United States, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Portugal, Spain, Ireland and the Caribbean.

In 2017, Canada celebrated 150 years since confederation with countless special events and projects, including the release of Homegrown (their ninth studio recording) which featured songs by Canadian artists, songwriters and instrumentalists who have influenced Searson in meaningful ways.

In spring 2019, Searson will release their 10th full-length album. This milestone release was recorded in front of a live audience at home in the Ottawa Valley. The full-length audio CD, will be accompanied by a 60-minute live performance DVD from the celebration concert, and will also include “behind the scenes” clips and interviews with the band.

Recently, Erin and Colleen were featured on the national CBC show Still Standing. Searson continue to tour non-stop and are proud to present their own music and to represent the Ottawa Valley culture on stages around the world.

Studio Live is bringing Searson’s special blend of Celtic-inspired music and step-dancing to Cumberland on May 30, at 7:30 p.m. Advance tickets, $20, available at Fisherman’s Daughter, Cumberland, Bop City Records, Courtenay, Blue Heron Books, Comox or by e-transfer to StudioLiveStudio@gmail.com.
