The new Comox Valley Song Circle Showcase will unveil original tunes by local songwriters June 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Serious Coffee in Courtenay.

This event is free to the public.

The Song Circle Showcase succeeds the Comox Valley Song Circle established by local performer Helen Austin some six years ago to provide a place where songwriters could gather to support, share and critique their original music.

With the help of the Comox Valley Arts Society, the song circle met Wednesday nights at the Muir Gallery for the past five years.

Perry Johnson, a member of the Comox Valley Song Circle since its inception, stepped forward as the organizer and director of the Song Circle Showcase.

He thanks Catherine Bell of the Zocalo Café, Stephanie Backhouse of the Union Street Grill and Grotto and Corrie Stoski at Serious Coffee for their enthusiastic support.
