Spy-themed show at Elks

The Moody Judes will explore the intrigues of love with their spy-themed show In from the Cold.

The Moody Judes are a group of moody musicians who never know how they will feel or what they will feel like playing.

They are Sean Mooney on piano, Roger Baird on drums and percussion, and Judy Johnson on vocals.

Last summer, they debuted the band with songs of love and obsession, interspersed with readings of the steamy love poetry of such eminent writers as Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Christina Rossetti, and e.e. cummings.

This year, the Moody Judes will explore the intrigues of love with their spy-themed show In from the Cold. From such classic spy thrillers as Casablanca and Goldfinger to the  parodic Austin Powers series, the evening will tell the spine-tingling adventures of The Spy Who Loved Me as he tries to crack the code on that most enigmatic of mysteries — love.

It begins to tell Round Midnight, when The Night Has a Thousand Eyes, watching This Masquerade. There will be some Stolen Moments with Strangers in the Night. See how the spy gets out of this one.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Elks at 231 Sixth St. in Courtenay this Thursday. Music is by donation at the door.
