Titillate senses with Tsk Tsk Revue

According to the dictionary, burlesque is a comically exaggerated imitation of something.

According to the dictionary, burlesque is a comically exaggerated imitation of something.

The words absurd and striptease also come up. To all discerning, consenting adults who like to get their funny bones and fancy tickled, here is an invitation to an evening of titillating variety.

The Tsk Tsk Revue is a cabaret style show conceived in the wilds of Lasqueti Island to aid the condition known as “bushed.” It also provides a stage for a group of performers who sometimes want to play dirty.

After five annual provocative shows on Lasqueti celebrating sensuality and comedy, the desire to share the creativity and cultural commentary moved producer Bazoombah to take the show on the road.

The Tsk Tsk Troupe comprises 24 lively, strange, hilarious, original and talented dancers, singers and players conspiring to entertain. Come, listen up to Lollipop. Meet Billy Blackfoot of rapping fame. Fall for a Jerry Can Can Can Girl or a Backwoodz Boy. Cheer on Jennifer Peals. Witness Big Love. Peak under a Woodsman’s Kilt. Get teased by Cumberland’s own temptress Tlulah Moon or lose yourself in the sultry tones of Madame JoJo.

The Tsk Tsk-ers have rocked audiences on Quadra, Cortes, Denman and in Powell River. They are extending their tour for one last night in Cumberland at the Cultural Centre this Friday.

The evening begins with the option of a pre-show sumptuous three-course dinner catered by the fabulous Gourmet Girls of Cumberland.

Dinner is at 6:30 by reservation only. Call Kita 250-338-3998 or Linda 250-218-6439 to claim your seat.

While you savour the sensual flavours, peruse the life drawings, mingle with the players and take a chance at winning the Wolf Island pure chocolate love organs.

All proceeds from bar go to the Cumberland Museum.

Tickets for the show cost $15 and are available at Seeds, the Cumberland Museum and Bop City Records (Courtenay). Showtime is 8:30 pm. If you want to laugh and be part in the wild and wacky Making Of Fun then make sure you are there.

The show is followed by dancing to the beats of DJ’s Holmes and Nigel.
