'Unique' sounds taking over Joe's this Friday

Edmonton-born songwriter Cory Danyluk and Ontario-based guitar-dobro player Dan Walsh hit the stage at Joe’s Garage this Friday.

Edmonton-born songwriter Cory Danyluk and Ontario-based guitar-dobro player Dan Walsh hit the stage at Joe’s Garage this Friday.

Best known for his international touring over the past decade with his other duo, Danyluk and Card, Cory Danyluk has charmed audiences from Vancouver Island to Newfoundland and across Europe and the U.K. with his poetic lyrics, his unique fiery singing style and his powerful performances.

“A sound that is unique, identifiable and thankfully, darn good. (Danyluk’s) lyrics are filled with magnified images and penetrating emotions, are so impressively poetic and powerful that they could easily stand alone as spoken-word pieces.” — Peter North, Edmonton Journal.

Joining forces with Danyluk this time around is Canadian touring veteran Dan Walsh. Having toured for years with the likes of Fred Eaglesmith and Romi Mayes, Walsh is celebrating the release of his second solo record Virtuoso.

“Dan is one of the most musical people I know. Never played a bad note in his life. Never will.” — Producer and musician Gurf Morlix.

Doors are at 6:30 p.m.; music starts at 8:30.

Joe’s Garage is located at 115 Fifth St. in Courtenay. Call 250-702-6456.
