Join North Island College tourism & hospitality management students this month for the special event and fundraiser An Evening in Venice.
The evening features a five-course meal, with wine and food pairings from 40 Knots Winery, NIC Chef Xavier Bauby and professional cook students.
The festivities are organized and co-ordinated by NIC tourism and hospitality management students as part of their applied learning in the tourism beverage theory and management course.
Bauby’s planned menu includes a mussel bisque, wine-poached pear salad, braised duck jambonette with roasted garlic polenta and seasonal vegetables, as well as delicious appetizers and desserts.
The event will also feature a live auction and door prizes, with proceeds supporting NIC student participation in behind-the-scenes tours of top regional, provincial and international resorts.
This year’s class is raising money for a five-day field trip to Las Vegas in January.
“This program is about applied learning,” said NIC tourism instructor Pedro Caraballo Acosta. “By planning local events and travelling to the best hotels and resorts around the world, students make industry connections and learn from the best. What better way to learn about tourism and hospitality locally and abroad than seeing it for yourself?”
