7 Story Circus is celebrating its 5th anniversary of capturing the hearts and imaginations of the Comox Valley.

Each year, this contemporary circus troupe presents a full-length performance that’s sure to dazzle and amaze. This year’s production, HOME: this must be the place, will showcase the talents of up to 90 students over three performances on June 12, 15 and 16. The show features aerialists, acrobatics, stilting, cyr wheel and more.

This local circus is an all-ages performance group led by Kaya Kehl, a circus performer, teacher and director with over a decade of experience.

“The inspiration for our show grew out of a writing exercise” says Kehl.

“The students were asked to reflect on who they are and what circus means to them. Almost every member of the group spoke of circus being their home and representing family. The theme arose organically and we’ve focused on bringing personal stories to the stage. We’re very excited to share our production with the Comox Valley.

“HOME: this must be the place is where dreams are born, friends are found, and the impossible is possible.”

Show times are as follows and all take place at Courtenay Recreation’s Lewis Centre, 489 Old Island Highway:

•Monday, June 12; doors at 5:30 p.m. and show at 6 p.m. (includes an opening act by Community Circus 1 kids).

•Thursday, June 15 and Friday, June 16; doors at 7 p.m. and show at 7:30 p.m. (includes an opening act by Aerial Arts students).

Admission at the door: $15/person or $40 family pass (maximum two adults/family).
