An all candidates forum will be hosted by LUSH Valley, the Comox Valley Social Planning Society and the Comox Valley Community Health Network (CVCHN) on Oct. 1.
The focus of the forum will be on economic and social conditions that influence both individuals and group differences in health status like economic policies, social policies and political systems. The questions for the evening will be related to housing, food security, poverty, seniors, affordability, the opioid crisis and environmental issues.
Two sessions will be held to allow candidates to speak to attendees in small groups for small periods of time with each answering up to 16 questions each. The questions have been provided by CVCHN community partners, including the Immigrant Welcome Centre, Pride Society of the Comox Valley and the Comox Valley Coalition to End Homelessness.
The forums will be moderated by Maurita Prato, Executive Director of LUSH Valley Food Action Society, and Christopher Bate, Coordinator at the Comox Valley Social Planning Society.
The forums will be held at the K’ómoks First Nation Community Hall, 3320 Comox Road, Courtenay on Oct. 1. The first session will go from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and the second will go from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
