Instructors and students from the Canadian Forces School of Search and Rescue conduct confined area jumps at the Wing Commander’s Drop Zone on 10 May 2024, at 19 Wing Comox.

From Aug. 19 to Aug. 23, Comox Valley residents may see the Royal Canadian Air Force CH-149 Cormorant and CC130H Hercules flying overhead with parachutist’s flying by. The training will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon daily.

The parachutist's will landing on the 19 Wing Comox airfield and nearby community. This training is for the Canadian Armed Forces to effectively work with aeronautical and maritime Search and Rescue operations.

These highly trained specialists provide pre-hospital medical care and rescue for aviators, mariners and others in distress in remote or hard to reach places.

The training is weather dependant and the times may fluctuate due for the safety of the trainees. 19 WIng Comox is working to ensure as little inconvenience to those living in the area near the training areas. 19 Wing Comox is asking the public to not approach the landing zones.
