Dr. Dana Burry recently reopened her SkinCare practise in a new, convenient location, where she’s thrilled to be joining the great team at Acreview Dental in Courtenay.
A family physician in the Valley for 23 years, requests from patients for treatments such as Botox and dermal fillers led Dr. Burry to open her SkinCare practise in 2008. While COVID necessitated a pause in treatment, Dr. Burry is excited to be working with patients again.
“It’s something I really enjoy doing,” she says. “It blends a little artistic creativity with medicine, and I’ve always had an artistic side.”

Services include both cosmetic Botox treatments and its use for medical conditions such as headaches, excessive sweating and treatment of TMJ disorders of the jaw.
“It’s amazing to see someone who has been suffering from chronic pain finally get some relief,” Dr. Burry says, noting that Botox used for medical treatment is also typically covered by third-party insurance. “Botox can really help someone who has not responded to usual therapies, and improving their quality of life is so gratifying.”
Dr. Burry is also trained and experienced in the use of dermal fillers that help counteract the volume loss that comes with reduced collagen as we age.
Using trusted Juvederm products made from hyaluronic acid, which maintains moisture in our skin but is naturally lost as we get older, the fillers are injected below the skin to create a natural, fuller look around the mouth, cheeks or jaw, for example. Using this naturally occurring substance, the procedure is well-received by the vast majority of patients, Dr. Burry says.

Dr. Burry’s medical skill, training and experience go a long way to ensuring natural-looking results, and she dispels the myths and misconceptions about the look the treatments create. For example, some people incorrectly associate overly filled lips as being the result of Botox. In fact, Botox temporarily softens the muscle contractions that cause wrinkles.
She also rejects the idea that more is better. “You can do as little as you want,” Dr. Burry says, comparing it to how revitalized you might look after a long, restful vacation. “You still look like you, but rested and refreshed, with a more youthful appearance.”
